PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) A highly effective medication that helps prevent HIV infection before exposure.
PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis) Emergency medication that may prevent HIV infection after a potential exposure. PEP should be started as soon as possible, ideally within 72 hours.
Doxy-PEP Doxycycline taken after certain sexual exposures to help reduce the risk of some bacterial sexually transmitted infections in eligible individuals.
